Elevating the Cloud Experience with Parallels® Desktop for HP’s Chrome Enterprise Portfolio

Now more than ever, companies are embracing cloud-first IT strategies and cloud solutions that provide greater flexibility and productivity. Chrome Enterprise clients are an essential part of these strategies, providing resilience for remote workers, substantial cost savings from simple deployment and management, and enhanced security. In a recent global survey, 75% of companies are exploring the expansion of their Chrome Enterprise footprint over the next two years, not surprising since 73% of IT decision makers agree that Chrome OS devices appeal to end users.1

While desiring the cost savings, enhanced security, and user experience of Chrome OS devices, IT admins have been restricted from broader expansion by the burden of legacy, business-critical applications. Macros and features not found on web versions of Office applications, as well as the need to use established, Windows-only line-of business-applications have restricted broader use. HP has partnered closely with Google and Corel to deliver a solution that tackles these issues head on and enables Chrome OS devices to run almost any Windows application.

Today, HP is introducing Parallels® Desktop for HP Chrome Enterprise,2 an enhanced feature of Chrome Enterprise that allows users to seamlessly run fully featured Windows legacy applications and ERP software directly on their Intel Core processor-based Chrome OS device.

Enabling a full version of Windows to be installed directly on the Chrome OS device in a virtual machine provides users with the ability to run nearly any Windows app – online or offline – directly on their Chrome OS device. Tight system integration delivers a speedy experience and enables copy and paste functionality between Windows and Chrome OS, shared folders, printers, and sound. And through innovative collaboration with Google, IT admins will benefit from simple set up and management via the Google Admin console, while built-in sandboxing of the virtual machine keeps Chrome OS endpoints secure.

Parallels Desktop for HP Chrome Enterprise is made possible by Intel Core processors, delivering a new tier of performance and unlocking the long-desired compatibilities and experiences required for companies to accelerate their cloud-first IT strategies, while giving users fast, fluid experiences. This all-new functionality is available now with the HP Pro c640 Chromebook Enterprise, the HP Elite c1030 Chromebook Enterprise, and is coming soon to the HP Chromebox Enterprise G3 – all powered by 10th Gen Intel® Core i5 and i7 processors.

Features of Parallels® Desktop for HP Chrome Enterprise include:

  • Simple to use Windows Apps on your Chrome Enterprise device. Harness the combination of Chrome and Windows, featuring quick and easy deployment of a virtual machine installed on your Chrome Enterprise devices. Seamlessly switch between environments or run both side-by-side and use Windows apps with or without internet.
  • Simple and speedy licensing, deployment, and manageability. Easily administer, license, and manage this desktop solution, addressing specific needs across your organization the Google Admin console.
  • Chrome Enterprise security and manageability. Aligned with Chrome Enterprise security standards, you can run your essential Windows apps safely within Chrome OS sandboxes.

The seamless experience between operating systems and applications on the HP Elite c1030 Chromebook Enterprise provides a pleasant experience for our geographically dispersed frontline workforce across 700 locations.”

Additionally, we're going one step further with Google to simplify Chrome Enterprise deployments with the HP Chrome Device Enrollment Service powered by ZTE (Zero Touch Enrollment), which ensures Chrome OS devices enroll with Chrome Enterprise Upgrade on devices like the HP Elite c1030 Chromebook Enterprise to a customer's domain as soon as the user connects to the device to the internet, saving IT time and resources.3 The service is available on the HP Pro c640 Chromebook Enterprise and HP Elite c1030 Chromebook Enterprise with more products coming soon.
