Sustainability has emerged as a central theme shaping the strategies of companies worldwide. Recent data reveals that 87% of business leaders said sustainability initiatives range from very to extremely important to their business and long-term success,1 making clear the pivotal role sustainability plays in creating a better future.

Additionally, governments around the world are implementing mandates to advance the circular economy. For example, in France, public sector organizations are now required to dedicate 20% of their annual procurement budget to purchasing devices that are reused, refurbished, or contain recycled materials.2

At the same time, in today’s challenging macroeconomic environment, IT departments are being tasked with optimizing budgets. This means maximizing the value of their current IT assets and finding flexible options that meet the individual needs of their organization.

At HP, we have made addressing these growing customer demands a top priority. Today, we’re excited to announce a new offering aimed at extending the life of devices as well as expanded availability of HP Certified Refurbished PCs – and we’re enabling partners to deliver these solutions to customers.

HP Device Life Extension

HP is introducing HP Device Life Extension Service, a new service to extend the useful life of aging devices by securely upgrading performance and addressing the most common issues that impede employee and IT productivity.3

With this new service, customers can maximize their IT investments and ease IT workload by upgrading the performance of old devices while proactively mitigating device performance issues. At the same time, customers can minimize the computing carbon footprint and contribute to sustainability initiatives by maximizing the usable lifespan of IT assets.4

Customers simply ship their gear and receive them back with restored performance and enhanced functionality.

This offer also helps channel partners, enabling them to deliver solutions that:

  • Strengthen customer relationships: Help extend customers’ IT investments upfront, or when they need more time before a refresh. Boosting device performance allows customers to keep existing PCs longer and defer refresh costs, without compromising work efficiency.
  • Give customers peace of mind: Partners can ease the IT workload of customers, improve their employee computing experience, and reduce break/fix costs by proactively addressing the most common device performance issues and extending support for aging devices.
  • Support customers’ sustainability initiatives: By helping customers maximize the usable lifespan of their IT assets, customers can advance closer towards their own circularity goals.

HP Device Life Extension Service is expected to be available in the US, Canada, and select countries in Europe in April 2024.

Expanded Availability of Refurbished PCs

In 2023, HP announced the availability of HP Certified Refurbished PCs for commercial customers in France and India. This marked a major step on HP’s journey towards reaching 75% circularity in products and packaging in 2030.5

Today, HP is announcing expanded availability for HP Certified Refurbished PCs. Starting in 2024, business customers in the United States will have the flexibility to choose HP Certified Refurbished PCs as part of a transactional or Managed Device Solutions purchase. Every HP Certified Refurbished PC undergoes a rigorous refurbishment process then is tested extensively and inspected to ensure optimal performance and reliability. HP Certified Refurbished PCs are backed by a 1-year limited warranty.

In addition, HP is announcing that customers will be able to choose refurbished hardware from select, third-party HP Certified Refurbishment Partners. These select partners use HP approved parts and are certified by HP for standardized quality and testing processes conducted by HP experts. HP Certified Partner Refurbished PCs are backed by a 1-year limited warranty. HP Certified Partner Refurbished PCs are expected to be available in the US, Australia, UK, UAE, Nordics and other select European countries in April 2024.
